I have always loved the feel of menswear-inspired styles. Yes, fashion is all about taking risks, but this is an approachable and ageless trend that anyone can wear all year 'round. I know I do. Plus, with the right pair of denim, anything is possible. Right now I really like the Bond Jean from Blank NYC.
Eric Michael's Joni is such a cool and modern take on a man tailored shoe. On a small platform with shearling detail, it screams cold weather vibes and this rich caramel color is super versatile and fall-like. I always gravitate towards these golden tones when the weather starts to change, which is probably why I immediately fell in love with this oversized plaid coat (already hanging in my closet). Not to mention anything in color-of-the-moment mustard.
This may not be the first time we’ve seen western, but it still feels fresh with Sam Edelman's Winona in pewter metallic. I like to subtly play on the theme with a silk scarf tied around my neck or my wrist; this always makes my outfit feel complete.
And while I like to soak up every last second of summer before the weather turns, I’m admittedly looking forward to cooler days when I can wear anything furry. The Amsterdam jacket by Thread and Supply is western-classic denim. Tip: work your light jeans in with richer hues when transitioning to fall.
Dare to wear animal print this season. Whether it be in a big way or in an accessory, we know it's a must-have in any woman's closet. I try to keep this trend fresh with unique touches like the bright red piping on our L'idea by Lori leopard loafer. To me, it feels classic but also unique, youthful and fashion-forward.
I know that animal print can be intimidating for some, put it's the perfect finish for an otherwise simple outfit. I wear mine with basic denim, like Margaux pictured here from Unpublished that features a super flattiing stretch fit with slight distressing. A cropped flare like this one is awesome for fall because it works beautifully with boots, flats or sneakers.
I like to call this look lumberjack-chic, and it's undoubtedly my favorite trend of the season. Marc Fisher's Indre hiking bootie is both comfortable and adorable, especially styled with fun outerwear like this cropped plaid jacket from RD Style. I am really attracted to the supple leather on this pair of boots, and the red laces add some dimension with a great pop of color.
And while it may not be reserved only for hikers, Blank NYC's coated denim is an awesome way to turn the volume up on your oh-so-obvious standard black jeans. They add a little edge to any ensemble and pair perfectly with anything from an oversized sweater to a silky blouse.
Dad's back and better than ever. I can't wait to see more of the exaggerated sole sneaker trend this year. It's a lot of fun and doesn't take itself too seriously. Dolce Vita's Walter pictured here takes on a more feminine flare with soft colors and manageable platform, and I think they are absolutely perfect paired with denim or joggers for running errands or meeting friends for brunch. Plus, they are easily styled with basics like this striped button down - seasonless, ageless and appropriate for any occasion.
Take this look a little further by throwing on a baseball hat... whether your hair looks good or not!

On December 22, 2018Years ago I used to shop at Lori’s when I was working. The selection was always fab. I would get a couple pairs of shoes then go across the street to Mcshanes. Often, Lori would be in which made it more special because she was always so friendly. Still looking good girl. I’m retired now and have grandchildren too.
